Together with my Helsinki based colleagues Gesa Piper (dance) and Venla Helenius (photo/video), I will spend two weeks in residence at the Biological Station in Kilpisjärvi, Finland in February 2025. In our project Learning from the Mountain we will explore physical and visual responses to landscape and sky, light and dark, snow and cold. Physically immersing ourselves and surrendering to site, listening to what is already there, meeting intermaterially, body-to-body. We’ll be working outside twice a day, always when the light comes in and again when it diminishes and darkness falls. Our residency will result in a local on-site showing – see you there : ) – and if funding permits a leporello book capturing our experiences at the station.
