My doctoral research focuses on dance practices in the natural environment. I work with a mix of ethnographic and practice-as-research methodologies and engage with practitioners in a case study sense – I participate in workshops and work-processes, I observe practice, I interview.

Helen Poynor and Simon Whitehead are two of the practitioners I study (with) in the UK. Both are well known for their environmental movement practice and have established their particular way of working over the course of many years.

Additionally I am in a continuous process of development and reflection of my own outdoor movement practice – through dancing, performing, teaching, documenting and writing.

What has led me to where I am now are amongst other things many years of working and dancing in nature space with Bettina Mainz (Berlin) and completing an MA in Political Science with a thesis on co-creating transformation through theatre in South Africa.
